Process

First, we’ll have you sign our agreement and set up payment for half of the total fee. After that, we’ll provide you with a form which will aid you in gathering all the information you will need to create your unique Estate Plan. A virtual meeting will then be scheduled during which we’ll input your information, answer questions, and submit your information for processing. Your documents are created and we’ll schedule a meeting to have your plan signed, witnessed, and notarized. You will receive a binder with your hard copy plan, as well as a link to a digital version for your convenience. Final payment is collected only after your Estate Plan is complete.

Estate Planning FAQs

Do I have to be living in Colorado to create an estate plan with 5280 Associates?
No. You can be a resident of any state except for North Carolina.
Are you attorneys? Can you give advice?
No. We are not attorneys, and we cannot give you advice regarding your Estate Plan. We work closely with our estate planning partners at Encore Estate Planning and can forward specific questions to them. The software provides guidance to you on the decisions you need to make and was designed by Encore.
Do you know the current tax laws?
The estate documents are prepared according to the state you live in and according to those laws. We provide publicly available tax information during the process. You should consult a CPA on any specific tax related questions to your situation.
Why a trust and not a will?
A trust is the most secure way to avoid probate at the end of your life and get your assets to those you want to receive them. Wills are also included in the package as well for guardianship of children and to help your assets make it into the trust if needed.
What if I need to change the terms of my trust in the future?
Changes can be made quickly and efficiently. The cost per request is $250, whether you need to make five changes or one change.
How long will it take to get my trust documents completed?
It can take as little as 3 weeks, depending on quickly you want to move through the process.
How does this impact my current estate plan?
You can use this plan to replace your old plan. We are not able to make simple amendments to plans that have been done previously, however your existing plan can be restated for the same cost as a new plan, if you prefer to keep the original name and date.
